This exciting week will culminate with the Newark staple, The Organ Jam.   Artists join together to celebrate the sound of the B-3 Hammond organ which was used to help establish a category of jazz music extremely popular in the City of Newark.   Newark born international jazz organist Rhoda Scott will headline the Organ Jam.

The festival’s title is taken from poet, writer, activist Amiri Baraka’s 1963 seminal book Blues People.
